Wind River Workbench Awarded Best Commercial Eclipse-Based Developer Tool by the Eclipse Foundation
Wind River showcased our leadership in integrating Eclipse with our commercial tools offering at EclipseCon 2008. Wind River Workbench 3.0, our latest embedded development suite, is based on the open source Eclipse development environment and offers an end-to-end, open, and unifying development framework. Workbench adds significant foundational capabilities to Eclipse to enable device development and provides seamless integration with third-party Eclipse-based plug-ins. Additionally, Workbench includes powerful embedded development tools on top of Eclipse to meet the needs of device developers.
Workbench supports development of complex systems by supporting multiple target connections and process/task/thread debugging. It supports the latest embedded processors, including 64-bit targets, and includes specific tools to debug and tune symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) systems.
Workbench also includes powerful analysis and visualization tools for device software development. These tools provide developers with visibility into the entire platform: application code, third-party libraries, and the operating system. You can monitor variables, optimize performance, and find memory problems, all while the system is still running. An integral part of Wind River Workbench, the analysis tools support both VxWorks 6.x and Wind River Linux platforms.

Eclipse Foundation
Wind River is a strategic developer member of the Eclipse Foundation and maintains a seat on the board of directors. As part of this commitment, Wind River provides financial support for the foundation, as well as developers who work on Eclipse Foundation projects.
Eclipse Device Software Development Platform Project
The Eclipse Device Software Development Platform (DSDP) project is an open source collaborative project dedicated to providing an extensible, standards-based platform based on Eclipse. It addresses a broad range of needs in the device software development space. Wind River leads the DSDP project with the support of our customers, partners, and others. Wind River also leads the Device Debugging and Target Management subprojects within the DSDP.
Eclipse C/C++ Development Tooling Project
The Eclipse C/C++ Development Tooling (CDT) project is an industrial-strength C/C++ integrated development environment (IDE) that enables edit, compile, and debug of C and C++ applications. CDT is one of the most popular projects in Eclipse and has been adopted and commercialized by more than 20 companies. It is especially popular in the device software development space and the Linux application development space. The CDT project is led by Wind River.
