Wind River ICE 2 is a high-performance, high-quality network-based JTAG emulator built on a scalable platform, designed with multicore debugging requirements in mind. It provides broad processor coverage, support for leading operating systems, and integration with Wind River Workbench and Wind River On-Chip Debugging API.

Wind River Trace 2 is an optional real-time external trace unit that extends the value of Wind River ICE 2 for ARM9-based processors with ETMv1. Developers can debug, analyze, and resolve the most challenging system issues, such as when the target crashes and the root cause is not easily found by post-mortem debugging via register and memory access. Trace 2 includes a 1GB trace buffer with the ability to capture real-time trace at clock speeds up to 200MHz. Fast hardware-based buffer post-processing and integration with Wind River Workbench, On-Chip Debugging Edition enable efficient viewing, analysis, and navigation of trace information.

Improve Development Productivity
System-level debugging on today's advanced 32-bit and 64-bit systems on chip (SOCs) requires JTAG probes and emulators for early access and control of the target. With devices becoming more complex, leading semiconductor vendors continue to make investments in the JTAG control block on their SOCs, providing more debugging horsepower and capability to both hardware and software developers. In some cases these capabilities are only accessible through JTAG run control solutions.

Wind River ICE 2 is integrated with Wind River's leading Eclipse-based development environment, Wind River Workbench and Wind River On-Chip Debugging API. With Wind River ICE 2, a common set of development tools can be leveraged across an entire product development team, resulting in more efficient development and extending value throughout the entire project development life cycle.

Wind River ICE 2 improves development productivity through its support for a broad range of features and capabilities: advanced hardware diagnostics, Flash programming, run control, internal trace support, and planned support for external trace and advanced performance analysis solutions. ICE 2 is readily adaptable to the ongoing needs of device developers through its ability to support next-generation complex multicore SOC and trace solutions with easy to deploy software updates.

Wind River ICE 2's 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet interface allows developers to access it from anywhere. The ability to remotely locate Wind River ICE 2 allows developers to extract all of the value it provides through its Internet interface.

JTAG Tools with Vision
Wind River ICE 2 enables developers to simplify development of complex multicore systems with its ability to connect with and debug up to 16 cores simultaneously. Through its integration with Wind River Workbench, On-Chip Debugging Edition, Wind River's industry-leading Eclipse-based cross target development environment, developers are able to leverage ICE 2's JTAG server and JTAG accelerator technologies to visualize and control all connected cores at the same time.
