System Simulation Environment
With a Wind River Simics virtual platform, the entire target system is simulated even if it contains multiple boards with multiple hardware architectures running multiple real-time operating systems. Simics virtual platforms are simulations of the entire target system and not just an individual processor, system-on-chip (SoC), or board. This gives all developers, testers, and integrators access to the entire target system so they can debug/test it as a whole instead of individual pieces of the system.

Simics virtual platforms have high fidelity and can run the entire software stack-from hypervisor to application. There is no need for stubbing or recompiling the target software. Simics virtual platforms run the exact same binaries as those on the physical hardware.

In addition, Simics virtual platforms are high performance and can run real software loads. This means they can be used for application-level analysis, testing, and debugging. Unique capabilities in Simics such as reverse execution and system save/restore make finding elusive bugs simple.
